DM: Omelette

Mysterious friends
From our previous mission we learned that one of the masters children, Gringal, were living in the northern parts of the island. We gathered a party in the potted plant to pay him a visit and see what side he is one and if he can provide any kind of assistance. When we were about to leave Merulas Friend showed up and we put him on the wrong trail since we knew Merula was somehow under the masters influence. The first and second days travel were without incidents.
For the evening the second day we found a hut that were abandoned. We camped inside to get some protection from the cold outside. Inside we found a trap door that we explored in the morning. It lead to a cellar which continued into a cave. Lyn were scouting ahead and we found 3 underground creatures known as bulettes. Some fireballs from Vivi started to make the cave unstable and it started to cave in. We evacuated and continued to travel.

During the night we again were watched by the same strange creature but this time Kirnis managed to talk to it. It gave him a wolf head pendant for “the cold blue one”, similar to the one that Destras mother, Blue, had.
The travels started to be more precarious since we started to see undead in the area, but fortunately we managed to avoid any contacts with undead. We found some strange tracks, burnt paw prints. We followed them to an old shack. After a rude reception we figured that this was Gringal, who we tried to find. As Vivi went to the house a second time, what he said I don’t know, but he managed to get Gringals attention. But when we hoped to get somewhere two large stones hit his head from the sky.
Confused fight
The stones rose up and turned out to be two earth elementals. After quickly destroying them, a voice was heard from the air and an air elemental arrived, and from the air elemental a woman I recognized as Dredulai-unai appeared. Some confused fighting commenced but we managed to calm down everyone so we could talk. It turned out that Dredulai-unai was trying to get the location of her daughters, Hastro and Histro, from Gringal but he did not believe she was their mother and wanted to protect them and didn’t want to tell her their location. Vivi managed to soften him up and get him on our side, and told us to meet him on the serpent river in a few weeks. Presumably leading us to Hastro and Histro, and the master.
After a quick search in Gringals shack, revealing a journal, the way home was spend discussing our findings, Dredulai-unai had some insight about Merula, apparently she is to be the next host of the master. There were some objections to just killing her, maybe we can find some other way. We continued to manage to avoid the undead and the trip home when without issue.
Aftermath
Back in town we managed to translate Gringals journal, summarized here:
- Gringals spend his youth as the masters servant, trying to find things the master wants and killing people after getting them to answer a few questions.
- He then saw an angel (he claims) and got obsessed by her, eventually marrying her.
- His axe got bound to his soul by the master.
- He escapes from the master and get three children.
- The master tries to get him back in his service, but he refuses.
- The master takes his children. Dead or worse.
- He describes the masters operation
- “Pawns”: Hastro, Histro, Slavier, himself, illestra copy, alchemist copy.
- “Bishops”: Iilestra real, Alchemist real.
- “Queen”: His Queen betrayed him, his knights and rooks now serve him as souls trapped in pendants. He will be looking for a replacement queen, the one piece he considers most valuable.
- Lastly he got in contact with Hastro and Histro. But they still blindly believe in that bastard even when he showed them what the master did to him.
- It ends with “I shall risk it to avenge my love and my children. I will make sure they pay for what they did, even if it kills me”
