I gathered a group of great adventurers to travel to the UIF portal with me. We decided to focus on finding the Aranea Filii’s base, and therefore traveled west, to the mountains.

On our way to the mountains, we stopped at Willow silk village. Olga, a very nice villager, told us that there’s something that is making the spider-people uneasy – they’ve been visiting the village more often than usual. I can assume the cause for that is us. Additionally, she informed us that they gave Leon, one of the village elders, a sending stone, and instructed him to contact them if he sees anything unusual or if anything happens. Olga asked him not to inform the spider-people about our arrival, and we spent a quiet night in the village.

The next morning, when we continued west, we found a Chitine training camp. It seems like the Aranea Filli are recruiting more and more Chitines for their fight. We fought about 20 of these creatures, but they were very weak and untrained. Their leader confirmed that they work for the spider-people.

When we looked around, we found a sending stone and a letter with the following instructions:

“Double the patrols. Intruders have been spotted. Put out a bounty of 3000gp for whoever is able to catch those intruders. We also expect you to get this lot of recruits in shape as much as possible. -Shareen”.

I don’t recognize the name Shareen, but I assume we are the intruders they are referring to. I believe the sending stone we found was used to communicate with someone from the Aranea Filli, because it was already used when we found it.

Katla managed to get more useful information from the Chitine leader’s mind. We learned that the Aranea Filli’s base is in the mountains, underground. We also learned the general direction of the base.

When we continued west, we found some dead bodies from a fight that happened a day ago. One of the bodies was of a 30 ft. centipede. On our way back to the portal Zerdan saw another one in the same area. Luckily for us, we didn’t have to deal with it.

We reached the mountains and saw a trail that splits into three: two of the paths headed into small caves, and the main trail continued towards the mountains, and was a little bit more traveled. While trying to decide on which path to follow, we saw a group of spider-people, so we decided to follow and fight them.

The group included one spiderfolk that was a spellcaster, two half-spider half-person that were fighters and some archers, and a huge metal spider-like construct. Another spider with many legs appeared during the fight as well. The fight was extremely hard, and the spider construct managed to teleport before we had a chance to kill it.

This fight was very challenging for us, and therefore we assumed that fighting more of these, at their base, would be too much for our group. That’s why we decided to head back to the portal.

On our way back we visited the Chitine camp again and saw that they started to repair it, with the help of many spider warriors. There were too many creatures for us to fight.

The rest of the journey back to Port Mirandia was quiet. We might need the help of stronger adventurers if we want to take care of the spider-people in the future.
