Zak wanted to go out for some exploration of the Island, and given the courage he had shown last I was out with him, I was ready to join him on this adventure.

We was joined by Dorro, a massive, massive Firbold druid;
Vestrivian, a short black tabaxi, quite sneaky and lover of climbing stuff;
Timmy, another tabaxi but more like a cheetah and a bit taller than Vestrivian, lover of moving fast, and exceptionally curious about things, good looking and fun to be around;
Chalie, a 7 feet tall Goliath with marks, scars and old burising all over his body – informed us he was known as the Port-Destroyer and had been an brawler back on the Sword Coast, and had come to this island to find a nice place for his retirement.

As we started our trekking north, we passed some patrolling guards, they kept their distance as we waved and nodded at them, the usual for the locals, and they was the only thing mildly interested we encountered for entire first days of travelling up north, until we made camp.

I didn’t see it, but the next morning, Dorro and Vestrivian had a swarm of tiny insects with slight glow to them come by while the rest of us was sleeping, they was apparantly eating of the spores that Dorro was able to release, and their slight blue glow let the insects let loose small sparks of static. Cute, but harmless

The above is a rendition and apparently the name of this insect is “Sparkwing”, which I never heard about before; Strange lands has strange creatures.

Finally we was able to travel into the woods that Zak wanted to explore and traversed through a heavy fog, obscuring our vision to just a few dozen feet a times, and some times getting a bit lighter allowing almost a hundred feet of view, as we ventured deeper and deeper inside.

After the fog cleared up, we spotted a massive, monstrously gigantic grape-like fruit hanging from the tree tops above us, it was so big that a regular person could easily climb inside the fruit.

Chalie was the one to climb up the tree with the speed and skill of a champion, despite Vestrivians earlier proclamation of being the lover of climbing. With a singular fist punch towards the stem above the fruit, he made it come crashing down to the ground below. Fortunately we all had the foresight to step out of the way, so nobody was hit, but the fruit did break and split open upon impact with the earth, revealing grey fruit flesh inside, yuck.

Chalie made some noise coming down, breaking of several smaller branches, showing how fragile the tree was that he had climbed as if it was nothing earlier, a very skilled climber Chalie.

Zak tried tasting the flesh of this grey fruit, and suddenly we noticed a frog-man standing in under a tree nearby, with a very insincere demeanor

We tried to communicate with this creature, but it kept gargling at us in its own tongue that neither of us spoke, we tried all kinds of different languages; I personally tried elven and gnomish, and heard some my companions try languages I couldn’t identify at it, but it either didn’t understand it or did not truly desire to communicate.

Suddenly 2 more green frogmen appeared near the first one, one of them on the ground as well and the other up in a tree, and then a red one appeared behind us,  whom was wearing a fancy remodeled tophat, and was soon joined by a yellow one behind us as well.

Their gargling seemed to turn more and more intense and their tone angrier and more upset, but they did accept the offerings of Goodberries the team made to them, and I tried offering one of them a ration, but he smacked it away angrily.

Meanwhile we was discussing between us that this might not just been a piece of food they owned, but perhaps it was somehow sacred to them, and the idea it might been an egg containing their eggs was also shared, but we had no confirmation of any of these theories, as we continued to fail to communicate and make peace with the frogmen, so we started discussing just leaving, when the red frogman started casting a spell.

Suddenly all the plants around us started to grow magically, making moving away hard, but still, being the faster to react in the party, I did my best to start retreating, not wanting to harm these creatures who was upset because we had destroyed and eaten of their fruit, but they started attacking, quickly heavily injuring Dorro, making a peaceful retreat no longer an option, as it was clear they would kill us all while we was trying to run, if we continued that attempt.

The Tabaxi’s quickly scaled the nearby trees, while Zak and Dorro engaged the 2 green frogmen on the ground next to us.

They continued to hail arrows at us and stab at us when we got close, all their weapons seemingly coated in poison, and they used their powerful leg muscles to jump across the now living plant covered ground, enabling them to move much more effectively than us, further proving escaping them was a futile strategy.

We first tried to dispose of the 3 green on the ground near us, and as we did so, the red top-hat wearing frogman used magic to make spikes grow near us as well, making each and every step you did hurt.

We disposed of the 3 green near us and Dorro used his healing to assure we all stayed alive and awake to continue the combat, while Zak and Chalie used some jumps and feats of strength to move over and make a frontline towards our backs, where another yellow and red one had now appeared, meaning we was left to face 2 red and 2 yellow frogmen.

They yellow ones made up their front line, so I focused my magical abilities to blast the red ones, tophat wearing one first, down from the distance, using both my Eldritch blast of pure magical force and called forth the spiritual blade of my Queen to stab at him, its sleak sharp blade and feathery hilt dancing in their air with deadly precision.

The yellow frogmen did some magical dancing, that seemed to momentarily hypnotize Zak and Chalie in turn, mostly Zak, making them just stand there stunned, as they continued using their poison abilities, but with the Tabaxi’s and Dorro joining in the ranged attacks, the red ones was soon disposed, and we could focus our fire on the yellow frogmen, and the arrows of the Tabaxi continued to strike weak spots, so they was quickly put down.

Now, this entire combat had 3 more creepy elements to it; Firstly, each time one of them was dealt a killing blow, they smiled gleefully and gargled happily, seeming pleased to die fighting us, almost orgasmically so, and secondly their blood seemed to float upwards and dissolve into nothingnes sin the air above them, very creepy, and last but not least, we heard these deep distant croaks, like it came from something significantly larger and more massive than these frogmen.

In the aftermath, we started searching through their items, but before we could really take a closer look, before Zak shouted we should run, as we saw this massive white frog come jumping towards us, it was huge, larger than a group of horses running together, so we legged it all we could, with Dorro picking up the backpack of Zak to unburden his move, so we could escape.

Back on the road, we found we had a few platinum coin and during a short rest managed to identify an odd stick as a lesser wand, which we all agreed for Dorro to keep, or well, I did say I wanted it, but clearly people was more in favor of Dorro having it, so I backed down, and then we hurried to the nearest place to rest; The Tavern north of WMC
