A mission long left on the board collecting dust involved recovery of a captured and by likely fallen comrade Sneks. The reason for the lack of interest (despite the noble aim) revolved around the requester, the mercurial gnome Ezekiel who is not without some well-earned fault in this perception as I understand it. However, enough adventurers finally gathered as were not put off by the benefactor or perhaps simply were not aware of the rumors surrounding him that we headed out towards the Tempest Plains in search of a magic key last entrusted by the gnome to the abducted Sneks; our information suggested his captors were gnolls from the Peltwearers. Perhaps an ill-omen for the adventure ahead we spied a wolf making a meal of a very dead merchant and only a few miles further along another merchant being accosted by a couple thugs. Fortunately for him, we agreed in spite of the ten proffered gold to accompany him up towards the Bloodeye clan where he planned to conduct trade. Once among the Bloodeyes we parted ways with the lucky fellow and regrettably did not have the good deed repaid with any knowledge of Sneks or his likely captors as the hobgoblins had not seen either Sneks or his key in quite some time.
After a second night spent out on the plains we were confronted by an adult skeletal dragon who announced himself (as I am told most dragons feel compelled to do) as Grelk. He may not have proved too much of a challenge for us by himself, but soon the ghostly gaze of Caslech confirmed we were under assault by a goodly number of heretofore invisible will-o’wisps who seemed to be following the dragon around in a sort of symbiotic relationship feeding off the swath of dead the drake was doubtless leaving in his wake. Providentially, The Inspiration Divine ensured none of our party were not added to that number as Valorean channeled his own divine power to drive a number of the spirits away as we dealt with the remaining in short order. Though largely unscathed we could not stay away from White Moon Cove any longer with the threat of impending gnoll attacks hanging in the air. Ezekiel will have to wait for the return of his key until a later date when less life threatening matters hang in the balance I suppose. Be advised the crevice to the southwest of White Moon Cove may be an excellent place to search for the Peltwearers if anyone has time in the near future based on intel gathered from a previous mission.
